What is Botox?

How does Botox work?
Botox works by temporarily blocking the signals between nerves and muscles, causing the targeted facial muscles to relax. This relaxation smooths out dynamic wrinkles – those lines that form from repeated facial expressions such as frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows. By reducing muscle activity in these areas, Botox softens existing lines and prevents new ones from forming, creating a more youthful and refreshed appearance.

What Should I Expect?
Before Treatment
During the initial consultation at L Beauty, we will listen to your treatment expectations and discuss what you wish to achieve. Following an assessment of your treatment needs, we will recommend which areas would benefit most from Botox treatment. No two cases are the same, and you will receive a personal treatment plan based upon your concerns and objectives, facial anatomy and medical history.
After a treatment plan has been agreed, and only once you are happy to proceed, you will be asked to read, understand and sign a consent form before the treatment can begin.
During Treatment
Botox is injected into specific facial muscles in small amounts using a very fine needle. The treatment targets the muscles responsible for creating dynamic wrinkles, allowing them to relax whilst preserving natural facial movement in untreated areas. The number of injections required depends on the areas being treated and your individual facial anatomy. The treatment is quick, typically taking about 15-30 minutes. Most patients describe the sensation as a small pinch or minor discomfort.
After Treatment
After a treatment some reactions are relatively common, these include slight redness, swelling, minor bruising and tenderness at the injection sites. The reactions are generally mild and usually disappear shortly after injection. They typically resolve spontaneously within a few hours to a day. In the majority of cases, our patients are able to return to work or their usual daily activities immediately. Full results develop gradually over 3-14 days as the Botox takes effect.
Are Botox treatments suitable for everyone?

Botox should not be used if you have an infection at the proposed injection site. Pregnant or breast-feeding women should not use Botox. Those with allergies to any ingredient in Botox should avoid treatment.

Does Botox Treatment need pain relief?
Botox injections use very fine needles and most patients find the treatment well-tolerated with minimal discomfort. The sensation is often described as a small pinch. As such, extra pain relief is not usually necessary. Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort but it is a well-tolerated procedure. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area for additional comfort if requested.
Will Botox drastically change my face?

How long will Botox Last?
The effects of Botox typically last between 3-4 months. This does depend on how your body metabolises the product, the areas treated, the dosage used, as well as individual factors such as muscle strength and lifestyle. Many patients find that with regular treatments, the effects may last progressively longer as the muscles become trained to relax.
